This year marks the 20th anniversary of this Ridley Scott directed, Callie Khouri penned drama. An instant critical and commercial success when it was released in 1991, the film launched the careers of a then little known actor Brad Pitt and writer Callie Khouri. It screened out of competition at the 1991 Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for six Academy Awards, winning one for Khouri’s screenplay that legendary New York Times Critic Janet Maslin called “sparkling”. No less than three books have been written on the film and its impact on Hollywood and American culture.
The Lone Star International Film Festival is proud to present this 20th anniversary screening with Oscar winning screenwriter Callie Khouri in attendance.
